March 11, 2019
Apropos to the Press Release issued by certain constituent members of United People’s Front (UPF) dated March 11, 2019, the undersigned would like to clarify that a letter sent to the Honble National President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by the President of Zomi Re unification Organisation (ZRO) has nothing to do with UPF.
In connection with this, the President, ZRO sought the opinion of the National President of BJP about Mr. H. Shokhopao Benjamin Mate’s candidature in the forthcoming coming parliamentary elections.
The ZRO, of course, is a constituent member of UPF. However, the ZRO has the right to take any unilateral decision as per the guiding principles of UPF. It is a fact that ZRO is one of the constituent members of UPF but it is also desirable that UPF may not interfere m the internal affairs of ZRO. The ZRO has the authority to decide and follow policy which has been unanimously agreed upon within UPF, that is, UPF shall not interfere in the internal affairs of its constituent members.
ZRO expressed what it feels the best for the common good of all the Zo/Kuki ethnic group. The undersigned would steadfastly stand for the people it served. It is our desire that no organisation, howsoever powerful it may proclaim, should meddle in the internal affairs of its constituent units.
